Callouts

Overview

Callouts from Concur allow clients to add and interaction with an outside system within the end users' Concur experience. The callouts require a web application commonly referred to as an Application Connector. The Application connectors can be hosted by either the client or a third-party hosting solution, but ultimately it must be accessible to Concur from a public location.

There are third-party developers that have already created Application Connectors to perform callouts providing Concur clients access to information systems they manage. The developers are partners with Concur and have had their Application Connectors reviewed and validated. Once approved, applications are then available for Concur clients to purchase and configure. For assistance with these connectors refer to the organization that provided the connector.

The available callouts are:

Fetch Attendee Callout

This callouts send information out from Concur to an Application Connector in a standardized format using Basic Authorization. The Application Connector then interfaces with the external system running the search. The results are then returned to Concur in the standardized format allowing Concur to render the results to the end user.

Fetch List Item Callout

This callouts send information out from Concur to an Application Connector in a standardized format using Basic Authorization. The Application Connector then interfaces with the external system running the search. The results are then returned to Concur in the standardized format allowing Concur to render the results to the end user.

Launch External URL

The Launch External URL callout gives clients and developers a platform to extend the functionality of the Concur product. Through this callout you have the ability to deliver custom user interactions, access functionality found in an external system, present custom web forms to present the information you want the way you want to present it. This callout is limited to the Entry Form only, so all interactions would be at an Entry level.

Event Notification/External Validation Callout

The Event Notification callout allows clients to be notified through a Web Services request when certain actions take place in their Concur entity. Concur generates a notification and places it into the notification system queue. When the notification reaches the front of the queue (first come first serve) a request to the configured endpoint is triggered. Clients then perform an External Validation of expense report data. Based on the validation results you can then update expense report header data or send a message to the report owner.

  • Concur Expense, the supported events are the Expense report entering the Post-Submit or Pre-Extract workflow steps.
  • Concur Travel Request, the supported events are the Travel Request entering the Post-Submit or Pre-Extract workflow steps.

This functionality can be used to meet a variety of business needs:

There may be a need to confirm that the user entered a valid project code or a need to verify that there is available budget for the expense when it is before it is submitted. There may also be a need to compare an amount to a list of allowed amounts for expense types, and modify the approved amount to match the limit or even send an email to the report owner, letting them know that the expense was above the limit for that type.
